Alice Heimsoth lives and works in the Bay Area, dividing her time between San Francisco and western Sonoma County. She was a premature baby of the 1950's, born with visual difficulties that eventually developed into myopia. Her personal experience offered a foray into the world of nature through an up-close perspective of detail and delight. Alice draws upon her spiritual relationship with nature to share with us her process of seeking out the microcosms that exist beyond our normal field of vision and attention span. Her most recent body of work explores her love of nature and her unique perspective and process. Using a macro lens and a meditative stillness, Alice offers a glimpse into her wonderland of insects, flora and phenomenon.

Alice received her BFA from the Academy of Art in San Francisco in 1974 and has continued her photography as a free-lance photo journalist, shooting formal portraits and chronicling friends, family and Bay Area community and environments. She has exhibited in numerous Bay Area and Sonoma County exhibitions and featured in Russian River Monthly as "Alice's Magical World", August 2003.
